Double the Denim

Spring is all about DENIM! You can never go wrong with denim or have enough of it, and it only gets better with time. I love mixing denim with more serious, practical pieces. My favorite rain jacket for this time of year is the Cascade because it is a little heavier. It also has some great hidden details, like storm cuffs with thumb holes to really keep the cold air and water out. And what is better than perfectly hidden pockets to keep all the things you can’t live without?! The Milam Chambray shirt is new for Spring and it is my favorite piece in the line. It is the perfect weight- not too heavy, not too light. What I love about a Chambray shirt is that you can wear it with ANYTHING and it can be dressed up or down. My go to outfit is usually a chambray shirt and a pair of black jeans but I’m also obsessed with denim on denim.

Another new piece of denim for Spring, is the Brewster Denim Jacket. There are so many great details about this jacket than make it so much more than just another jean jacket. It has zippered pockets so that you can make sure nothing falls out. My favorite detail is the railroad stripe interior pockets. They are a great nod to the history of Carhartt and nice and big for all the things you might need during the day. Lastly, the jacket has a drop tail hem to give you a little bit of extra coverage in the back. I love to layer with a denim jacket so I paired this with our super comfy Hayward Hoodie and a Force Tee.

Series 1889 Slim Double Front Dungaree

Work pants can be a tough find. Whether you’re looking for movement, coverage, or durability, these pants are for you. No matter what the job is, double front leg panels always come in handy on the job. The contoured waistband prevents gapping in the back. Not to mention–these pants have a great cut, sitting right below the waist and fitted through the hip and thigh. Take a closer look here:

Carhartt in Detroit

In a day and age when so few brands can rightfully call themselves a family company, Carhartt sticks out in a sea of suits like a vintage chore coat, passed down for generations. In 1889, Hamilton Carhartt started his workwear company with only 5 employees and 2 sewing machines. Over a hundred years full of hard work later—and look at them now!

Born in Detroit and proud of it, Carhartt opened a new location in a historic building downtown. Each nod to their past is a reassurance that Hamilton’s words still ring true:

“I believe that when a man wears an article that I manufacture, his self-respect is increased because he knows that it is made by an honest manufacturer, who is honest with his employees.”

That is perhaps the highest calling of a company: to do things well and to do things honestly. Now that is something I think we can all get behind.

Check this location out for yourself at 5800 Cass Avenue Detroit, MI 4820

Belt Buckle Pride

Like I’ve said before, belt buckles are quite often the prize in a rodeo. And these are no ordinary belt buckles. They are works of art, a badge of honor, and can even be a right of passage when you earn your first one. You have to remember that a skilled craftsman is behind each one of those beauties.

Sandstone Vest 5 Ways

The Sandstone Mock-Neck Vest is one of the Carhartt’s most popular women’s items. I blame it on the sherpa lining. Who doesn’t love a good vest snuggle? The new Crafted in Carhartt team decided to rock their Sandstone 5 different ways. Let’s take a look and get some vest-spiration!

Laura styled her Hybrid Camo Printed Sandstone with the Signature LS T-Shirt, and topped it off like any beer lover would with the Carhartt Woodsman Watch Hat.

“I love the vest because it works so well across seasons. I bought my first one six year ago and I still get complements on it. It’s great when I’m working on a project going back and forth between indoors and out and it’s perfect when you have a friend who needs help moving apartments during a January snowstorm.” -Laura

Lauren, the lover of patterns, styled paired her Sandstone with the Hamilton Flannel Shirt.

“I love to wear the Sherpa lined vest because it is a great extra layer to really keep you warm, yet still look cool. It easily fits under a jacket and then looks great on its own. I love pairing it with a flannel to complete a cozy winter look.” -Lauren

Molly wore her vest with the comfy Hayward Hoodie, which is waffled ever so nicely.

“I chose the camo-printed vest because I loved the colors that you’re able to pair with it. The Sherpa-lining was an added bonus! I have so many plain sweatshirts and sweaters that I could’ve easily thrown underneath this, but today I wore it with the Hayward Zip Front Hoodie in Indigo Heather.” -Molly

Jennifer paired her dark brown Sandstone with a soft hued Hamilton Flannel Shirt.

“For a crafter who constantly has a dremel buzzing in the background, I have to wear sturdy clothes when I work. If you’ve ever seen a Sandstone, you know it’ll hold up to whatever comes its way. Gotta love this Mock Neck Vest because it keeps you warm and allows full range of motion.” -Jennifer

Taylor wore her Hybrid Camo Vest with the triple stitched Hayward Hoodie.

“This vest is a great addition to my winter wardrobe for a few reasons! The drop-tail hem in the back gives me a little more coverage when I’m wearing leggings on a lazy day, and also makes the vest look a bit more modern. The pockets are big enough to hold my cell phone, and I can put it in the interior pocket as well so it’s more secure.” -Taylor

I know a lot of y’all have one of these vests sitting in your closet at home. The Crafted in Carhartt team wants to see how you style it. Email a picture of yourself in your gear to (craftedincarhartt@carhartt.com) and you might see your photo featured on the blog!
