DIY Cookie Notes for Santa

Leaving cookies and a little note for Santa is a sweet tradition that my family baked up every year. It got me thinking, why not combine the two? After all, I think I’d appreciate a cookie note. Wouldn’t you?

You’ll need:

  • black and white cookies
  • food coloring markers
  • and a few warm sentiments to share

If you’re looking for a few pointers:

  • Practice writing with the food coloring markers before you start writing on your cookies. It can take a while to get the hang of it.
  • Short sayings are easier to work with.
  • Feel free to use whatever colors you’d like. Go ahead and draw a picture or two while you’re at it.
  • Have fun!

Row after row planted as if they were meant for hide and seek. After a few minutes of running around the great expanse, the duo spotted exactly what they were looking for. It was a great team effort. You can’t saw alone, after all. What a wonderful mother daughter moment of strength and fun!

Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota is 25 acres of large scale installations and machinery. I visited last week and it was like a winter wonderland of creativity and fun. Carissa and Claire live and work at this unique community arts organization. Each year, new artists apply to Franconia for fellowships. Artists work, create, eat, and live together. It’s not often that you can find an open and innovative environment that provides work, residence, and exhibition space to emerging and established artists. The girls showed me around their workspaces and the scenic art that covers the land. The pink forklift, affectionately referred  to as mother, helps get the job done. Who said forklifts are a man’s tool?!

Check out the girls’ outfits: Carhartt Women’s Sandstone Berkley Jacket, Women’s Hamilton Flannel Shirt II, Women’s Series 1889 Slim Double Front Dungaree, & Quincy Hat / IFD Women’s Detroit Jacket, Women’s Clermont Sweater, Annapolis Long-Sleeve Shirt, Carhartt Pants, & Maysville Hat

For last minute decorations this holiday season, just step outside and integrate aspects of nature into your trimming. This is a great activity to do with kids. It will get the wheels turing in their heads and keep them active. What do you have lying around the house that can add to the festivities? Maybe some ornaments, ribbon for wrapping gifts, and pine cones collected from the backyard can do the trick. Use thin string or wire to tie your found objects onto the wreath. Check out Ellen and Elle’s creation. Decorating is fun for the whole family. Get outside and enjoy the season with the ones you love.

I love giving presents around the holidays. Giving someone you care about the perfect gift is such a great feeling. I know, I know. That sounds so corny, but it’s so true. Pictured above are a few gift ideas for the lovely ladies in your life. There are some fun winter items and a few products handmade by our super talented Crafted in Carhartt women. How cool would it be to give your best girlfriend or your sister something made by another inspiring woman, working hard and following her passion. This holiday season let’s get in the spirit of giving and girl power!
