My favorite kind of art invites folks to take part in it. These interactions allow people to let lose and get creative in a group setting. This tap light DIY is a great idea for a party activity or a small gathering.
You’ll need a fairly dark space, masking tape, sticky tabs, and a bunch of tap lights.
Using the tape, delineate where you’ll stick the lights on the wall. Put the sticky tabs on the back of the lights and adhere them. The tape will also help with a speedy removal at the end of the night. Simply pull the tape off the wall and the tap lights will come off with it.
Continue hanging the tap lights until you’ve used them all. You can create a large uniform group like I did below, or you can make more of an abstract pattern across the space.
Now you’re ready to create designs in light! Have fun!

DIY Using Nature in Holiday Decorations
For last minute decorations this holiday season, just step outside and integrate aspects of nature into your trimming. This is a great activity to do with kids. It will get the wheels turing in their heads and keep them active. What do you have lying around the house that can add to the festivities? Maybe some ornaments, ribbon for wrapping gifts, and pine cones collected from the backyard can do the trick. Use thin string or wire to tie your found objects onto the wreath. Check out Ellen and Elle’s creation. Decorating is fun for the whole family. Get outside and enjoy the season with the ones you love.

Jess of The Bumper Jacksons
Meet the Bumper Jacksons. Their trad jazz and pre-war country music paint’s America’s early history. The Bumper Jacksons boldly and elegantly balance paying homage to the traditions while fashioning their own unique, DIY style. This duo is a Carhartt sorta bunch. They even camp out after playing at events and do three week long biking music tours.
Jess constructs all of her own washboards. Each one is a playable instrument and hangable piece of art. She also gives washboard lessons. I got to try my hand at a few tunes, and it was a blast.

Carhartt Women’s Chambray Shirt
The last few days have been an adventure. I was on an inspiration high after meeting so many inspiring women in Boston. (who I’ll be sharing with you in the next few weeks to come, so keep an eye out) The day after I flew back to Chicago, I hopped in a car and drove to Rehoboth, Delaware with some friends.
It’s a quaint little beach town on the Atlantic. I’ve had my fair share of sea food the past few days, which makes me happy. The nights by the shore get a little breezy, so I’ve been wearing my Carhartt Country Girl Chambray Shirt. It’s light, but keeps you warm enough against the ocean winds.
I really enjoy wearing this top. There are so many ways I’m planning to wear it in the upcoming days. There’s a sweet little ruffle down the front and I love the front pocket. Get one for yourself here.
