It’s can be hard to think of the right gift for Dad. If you’re looking for a thoughtful and useful present, you’ve come to the right place. Here are a few DIYs to help organize around the garage and the perfect work shirt any guys would love. Let’s walk through these ideas step by step.

1. You can use shower curtain hooks as organizers for nuts and washers on a peg board you hang in your garage. Get creative. You can use the shower curtain hooks to arrange a lot of other things too; like wrenches or paintbrushes with a hole drilled into the handle.
2. Another great idea is a shelf for screwdrivers so that it’s easier to find the right one when you need it. Find a long, skinny piece of scrap lumber you can drill holes into as slots for each tool.
3. Try thinking green. Recycle an old palette and use it as a way to store gardening equipment. Hang it on the outside of the garage. It looks cool and it’s functional.
4. The Carhartt Men’s Workwear Pocket T-Shirt is a great gift for Dad. Right now they are 2 for $25 and big/tall are 2 for $28. That’s a great deal! It’s made of sturdy material and it comes in lots of colors and big/tall sizes.

guide to ombre

I’ve found that having a little background knowledge in color theory goes a long way when trying to create the ombre effect. Ombre eggs are a great craft for this time of year. Here’s what you need: a few dozen eggs (either hard boiled or paper), paint, brushes, and metallic ink. Pick the base hue you want to start with. Then decide if you want to add white, black, or both to get the desired affect. Once the paint has dried on the eggs, sprinkle the metallic ink on the surface to make them look speckled. Display them in a way that shows the variance of color and your set! If you’re stuck getting started, look for creativity in other places. My color thought process was inspired by this great Carhartt Tee.

So it’s not screen printing, but it yields similar results. Using wax paper for T-Shirt stencils is simple and inexpensive. It looks great on the Carhartt Women’s Norfolk Tank, but you can stencil anything. Try the pattern provided above or come up with one of your own designs.

Don’t forget to wear green this weekend for St. Patrick’s Day! Maybe switch things up a bit. Instead of wearing a typical green shirt, try potato stamping a light colored Tee with four leaf clovers. Don’t be intimidated, this is a super easy craft. Once you’ve made the potato stamp, think of all the other things you could cover in four leaf clovers!

We all have big T-shirts shoved into the back of our closets. With up-cycling being such a craze, I’m constantly searching for my next DIY project. Old T-shirts are a perfect beginning to a cheap, creative outlet. In the photos above, I laid out the steps of turning a Men’s Carhartt Pocket T-shirt into a women’s dress.

I wore my new hybrid dress with a hybrid Carhartt Sweat Jacket. It’s part sweatshirt, part jacket. The Sherpa Sweat Jacket is super comfy and still figure flattering. There’s an adjustable drawstring inside to enhance the natural waist. What more can you ask for? Comfortable and stylish? I’ll take it!
